I'm pretty upset about this whole mess in the Middle East, and the fighting between Israel and Lebanon only adds to my consternation, especially when I think about the innocent victims, both people and animals. As others have pointed out, animals are often forgotten or forced to be left behind when an emergency occurs, just as they were in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, so it's encouraging to see in these
two online articles that one group, Beirut for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (BETA) is braving the conflict to care for those even less fortunate in all this insane violence, including pets and zoo animals.
