A brief profile on controversial "dog whisperer" Cesar Millan. He has had some positive influence for animals, particularly with demonized breeds like pits and rotts, but I'm a bit surprised that someone who claims to be "into" animal rights would give him her seal of approval, considering that dominance over animals is a fundamental problem in our relationship to them. If you're going to address animal rights, you can't get around that. I guess "into" animal rights is a pretty superficial attachment to the concept. Which is probably what's got her thinking Millan's doing the right thing by dogs. I won't say that he's not sometimes effective, but I'm with Dr. Petra Mertens and the Animal Humane Society in preferring positive reinforcement to "positive punishment."
