Where now, black cow?

Posted by Eric @ 5:54 AM

An update on the status of Molly B. in the Great Falls Tribune:
The Washington no-kill rescue group Pasado's Safe Haven is aggressively wooing Molly. The group's special projects manager Kim Sgro said she would enjoy spa-like surroundings on their 80-acre farm. There, Molly would have grass to graze, a barn for shelter and dozens of cows, goats, turkeys, dogs and cats to frolic with.

She would be the star of twice annual tours and, of course, all her travel and feed expenses would be covered.

But Del Morris, a manager at Mickey's Packing Plant in Great Falls, thinks Molly is suited for country life.

"We're leaving the door open for her to stay," he said Monday. "It certainly would be an opportunity for Great Falls to have a celebrity here."
The packing plant is clearly milking its 15 minutes for all it's worth:
Until a decision is made, people can come down and visit Molly at the packing plant.
Of course, visitors won't be allowed into the slaughterhouse, will they? Would kinda suck for them if people saw cows just like Molly B. getting hit with a stun bolt, and getting skinned and chopped up.

What's amazing to me is that people will actually visit Molly B. at the packing plant and never once make the connection. The Great Wall of Compartmentalization prevents that from happening, so they can continue to eat all the other cows that weren't so "daring" as Molly B.

I found it slightly amusing that this story includes a CNN-style map covering Molly B.'s escape route:
