If these were my tax dollars, you'd see an angry letter going out right now. I hope any New Mexico residents will lodge their complaints with the governor (excerpt):
“Rodeo may be the most uniquely American sport and it is a rich and vibrant part of New Mexico’s cultural history,” Richardson said. “These investments will help get more New Mexicans involved in rodeo events.”I realize some consider the rodeo an American cultural tradition, but there are many American cultural traditions that we've given up as we realized their barbarity. Rodeos are one of the most blatant forms of animal exploitation in that they provide nothing but cheap entertainment from the subjugation of animals.
