Cloned Cows' Milk, Beef Up to Standard

Washington Post: Cloned Cows' Milk, Beef Up to Standard

Milk and meat from cloned cattle are almost identical in composition to the milk and meat from conventionally bred cattle, according to the first comprehensive assessment of the nutritional value of food from clones.
Almost? almost? That's reassuring. The article describes 90% of clones from a prizewinning Japanese bull as being identical, while the others were even fattier and therefore, allegedly more valuable to consumers.
Others have wondered aloud why it is necessary to clone cows that produce huge amounts of milk when surpluses, rather than shortages, are the main problem facing the U.S. dairy industry today.
Good question. But do we answer it? No. Instead there's the usual pandering lie that this will benefit poor farmers in developing countries without saying how the poor farmer is supposed to pay for the designer cows.
